original finials and
drawings furnished by Haynes/DeBoer Associates


Restoration of the Governor Henry Lippitt House Railing, Providence, R.I.
In order to duplicate the design of the fence for the stair railing, 1 3/4"
solid round steel needed to be power hammered
into 1 1/2" octagon and than hand forged to conform to the stair case curve.
The straight fence panels were custom cast by Cumberland Foundry.

Smith Owen House, Providence

Gate for St. Luke's Episcopal Church in E.
Greenwich, RI.
The gate was designed by Martell to include elements from an existing gate on the opposite side of the courtyard, so that it would complement the existing gate. Martell used traditional forging and joinery methods, resulting in a gate that looked as if it had been there for
years.
